Preliminary Ratings: Saturday 09/05/15

The last weekend of summer brought the first weekend of college football. ABC and NBC benefited from the increased ratings on a normally down night, with ABC seeing big numbers to win the night.

ABC's season premiere of its Saturday night football package drew a strong 7.9 million viewers and mid-twos in the three young demographic ratings. This could be enough for the network to win the week in the demos, if not be right there with NBC & CBS.

NBC's opening game of Notre Dame football did less than half the numbers ABC grabbed, hovering around a 1.0 rating in its three demographic categories.

Year-to-year, ABC was up 1.9 million viewers and 42% in the A18-49 ratings, from its first Saturday night game. NBC was down about 800,000 in total viewers, but lost 45% in the A18-49 demographic.
