HBO Gets SESAME STREET through 2020

The top premium cable network, HBO, has struck a deal with Sesame Workshop to bring all new episodes of the 46 year old children's program to the network. The deal is for five seasons and the series could produce twice as many episodes as they have in recent seasons.

This is a win/win for both HBO and PBS stations, as PBS will continue to air the new episodes of the series, on a nine month delay. PBS stations will also now get the program for FREE, instead of paying for the programming.

This is a major grab for HBO as it tries to beef up its children's programming, while going head-to-head with Netflix.
