US Box Office Results: July 1 - 5

The Fourth of July, 5-day weekend, produced three movies, grabbing over $40 million each. with INSIDE OUT topping the holiday chart. The Pixar movie edged out JURASSIC WORLD and the new film, TERMINATOR: GENISYS, with $45.3 million, over the extended weekend.

The fifth TERMINATOR movie did decent numbers, its first five days out, with $44.2 million. it too topped JURASSIC WORLD, over the holiday. Compared to TERMINATOR SALVATION (2009), GENISYS is off by $21 million, from its first five days of release.

JURASSIC WORLD was third, over the five day weekend, but was the top movie, over the traditional, 3-day weekend. The Chris Pratt movie collected $1.5 million less than INSIDE OUT, over the five days, but grossed $800,000 more during the Friday - Sunday receipts.

The other new movie in wide release, MAGIC MIKE XXL, did not do good at all. Just $11.6 million for the three day take and a total of just $26.7 million for the first five days. That is a little more than half the five day take, the first film grossed.
