Chicago taxes Netflix:
Netflix and other pay TV services like it, will now cost Chicago residence 9% more, thanks to a ne "amusement tax." The tax will apply when you stream TV, movies, music ot online games, within the Chicago area.
A&E Networks launches new OTT service:
The Lifetime Movie club is the first subscription video service from A&E Networks. The OTT service became available on July 2, available only on Apple mobile devices. The service will be just $399 per month.
NBC renews freshman series:
First year reality series, I CAN DO THAT, has been given an eight episode, second season order, from NBC.
TEEN BEACH 2 grows in L+3:
In the Live+3 day rating, the Disney TV movie, TEEN BEACH 2, has a total audience of 13.3 million viewers. That number also includes encore telecast of the movie, the same weekend.
NBC cancels two freshman series:
NBC has axed two low rated series, A.D. - THE BIBLE CONTINUES and AMERICAN ODYSSEY.
USA renews SUITS:
The long running drama has been given a 16 episode order for a sixth season run.
SyFy Renews sophomore series:
The second year series, BITTEN, has been picked up for a third season, by SyFy.
NBC to Donald Trump: "You're Fired!"
NBC is severing all ties to Donald Trump, including dumping coverage of the MISS USA and MISS UNIVERSE pageants, as result as to Trumps statements on immigrants. Trump will also not be back for THE CELEBRITY APPRENTICE, but the series will continue, as it is licensed from Mark Burnett's production company.
Reelz to broadcast pageant:
After NBC dumped all things Trump, Reelz TV came in swooped up coverage for this year's MISS USA pageant,
