ROOTS reboot:
The networks of History, A&E and Lifetime will air the series ROOTS, as an event simulcast. ROOTS will hit the networks in 2016.
H2 becomes VICE:
A&E is rebranding the cable channel H2 into VICE. Vice is the millennial-centric news service and A&E has a 10% stake in the venture. Vice will also have a weekly presence on HBO in the coming months.
AHS grabbs Bassett:
Award winning actress, Angela Bassett, has been added to the cast of AMERICAN HORROR STORY: HOTEL.
Dr. Sesuss book to be Netflix series:
The streaming network has picked up the animated series GREEN EGGS AND HAM, based on the classic Dr. Seuss kids book. The first season will consist of 13 episodes. Ellen DeGenerese is an executive producer of the series.
Hulu grabs big exclusive:
The upcoming AMC series FEAR THE WALKING DEAD will have an exclusive SVOD home in Hulu.
Speaking of Hulu...
After 16 years since its last episode aired on NBC, Hulu announced it will be the exclusive online streaming home of the great sitcom SEINFELD. Episodes begin streaming in June.
VH1 renews freshman series:
BARELY FAMOUS has received news that it will have a second season, on VH1.
FULL HOUSE: The Movie:
Lifetime is going forward with an unauthorized FULL HOUSE movie, capitalizing on the recent reboot of the franchise.
Hulu gets cable distribution:
Cablevision has struck a deal to bring Hulu to its customers. This is the first cable deal for Hulu.
The Yahoo! upfront:
Yahoo’s push into video included14 new video series for a total of 47 original series In addition to I Am Naomi and Riding Shotgun, other new series include Thug Kitchen, YourTech, #OneSmallThing, NewsBites, Viewfinder,Made It With, Made Good, MLB Condensed Games and Offensive Interference. [LINK]
SyFy axes sophomore series:
The Ron Moore series, HELIX, has been cancelled after two seasons, by SyFy.
Binge on AQUARIUS:
NBC will release all 13 episodes of the new NBC series AQUARIUS, after the series premiere on May 28th.
HOME FREE coming to FOX:
FOX is trying a new competition series this summer. HOME FREE will premiere on July 22, airing on Wednesday nights, at 9 p.m. The series is a home makeover type of show.
REVENGE Cancelled:
It is official. The ABC drama, REVENEGE, has been cancelled by the network, after this season.
Huge Live+3 ratings for Bruce Jenner Interview:
ABC released that the April 24th TV interview with Bruce Jenner, attracted 20.7 million viewers, in the Live+3 TV ratings. The A18-49 ratings rose to a 6.8 score.
