Ratings Review: GIRL MEETS WORLD (Season One)

The Disney channel is a perfect place to begin resurrecting a lot of the old TGIF sitcoms, from the late 80's and 90's. The campy/cheese stories are perfect for the pre-teen crowd that regularly and repeatedly watch the channel, day in and day out. GIRL MEETS WORLD was the perfect first series for such a a scenario launch.

The series has booth youth appeal and retro appeal to current parents of young kids. Families can enjoy programming together and bond at the same time. What could be better?

GIRL MEETS WORLD got off to a great start, attracting over five million viewers and a 1.3 rating in Adults 18-49. Once the series hit the Friday night rotation, the Live+SD audience settled into 2.5 million, with a relatively decent A18-49 rating of a 0.5. These numbers are a little above what most other Disney series get. But, longevity will be the question for the series. Kids should stay with the show, but will parents? Its one thing to love a show when you are 11. It is another to still like that show when you are 31.

For the season, GIRL MEETS WORLD averaged 2.78 million viewers and a 0.6 rating in Adults 18-49.
