Complete Nielsen Ratings: March 16 - 22, 2015
The full Nielsen rankings and ratings from #1 to #88:
EMPIRE closes its first season with a very loud BANG! The hot drama was, by far, the #1 program of the week, collecting 17.6 million viewer and an impressive 6.9 rating in the A18-49 ratings, for its last episode. An hour before EMPIRE drew 15.8 million viewers and a 6.1 demo rating. This helped lead FOX to the top spot in both the A18-49 and A25-54 demographic ratings, even if it had only three other shows in the top 15, of the demo chart.
CBS was the overall top network of the week, winning in three of the categories and second in A18-49 demographic. Even though a good portion of the schedule was either preempted, by college basketball, or in repeats, CBS still managed to push 12 programs in the top 30. None of those 12 programs were NCAA tournament games. The win came without the Thursday or Friday line ups and with Tuesday in encores.
NBC and ABC battled for third place with tight numbers to each other. ABC placed eight programs in the top 30, including the season premiere of DANCING WITH THE STARS, at #3. NBC had seven shows in the top 30, including two DATELINE editions and UNDATEABLE, at #28.
A look at the season to date numbers and the A18-49 race is getting tighter. CBS inches another tenth of a ratings point closer to NBC, to be within two tenths of the defending season champion. Right now, it is NBC with a 2.6 rating and CBS with a 2.4 rating. As THE VOICE slides through the spring and nothing new is hitting with audiences, the door is wide open for CBS to take the season title.
It is also a close battle with FOX and ABC for the #3 spot, as ABC only has a tenth of a point advantage over FOX. But, with EMPIRE now done until the fall, FOX may slide backward, leaving ABC to grab the bronze.
In the A25-54 demographic, CBS has a one tenth of point lead over NBC. 3.3 to 3.2, but both have the same number of viewers within the demo, at 3.9 million. FOX and ABC are way back at a 2.5 rating and a 2.7 rating, respectively.
Total viewership is spread out and each network should be locked in its current placement. CBS is first with 11.5 million viewers. NBC is second, with 9.2 million. ABC third, with 7.9 million and FOX in fourth, with 6.2 million
