US Box Office Results: February 20 - 22, 2015
The top three films of the the week, were last week's top three films, but with less drawing power. FIFTY SHADES OF GREY kept the #1 spot, but lost a whopping 73% from last week's take. That is going from $82 million to $23 million. The lags will not last long on the hot movie.
KINGSMEN and SPONGEBOB only lost in the range of 50%, from last week and could have some lags in theaters, over the next few weeks. SPONGEBOB, now in its third weekend, is already over $125 million, domestically, and is the #2 all-time animated, TV-adaptation movie, behind THE SIMPSONS MOVIE.
The top new movie of the week, was Disney's MACFARLAND, USA, with $11.3 million, edging out THE DUFF, for the #4 spot. The #3 new movie, in wide release, was the pathetic sequel, HOT TUB TIME MACHINE 2. Placing 7th for the week, it could only manage to take $5.8 million form movie goers.
