DOWNTON ABBEY pulls in big audience:
PBS collected 10.1 million viewers for the 5th season premiere of DOWNTON ABBEY. The episode was also the #2 primetime program, in the Twitter Nielsen ratings, with over 1.6 million users seeing tweets on the show.
Netflix announces premiere dates & renewals:
In a very busy press release, Netflix has renewed MARCO POLO for a second season, and announced premiere dates for four series. DARE DEVIL will premiere on April 10, 2015. GRACE & FRANKIE will launch on May 8th. UNBREAKABLE KIMMY SCHMIDT kicks off on March 6th and BLOODLINE premieres on March 20th.
Verizon eyeing AOL:
The mobile phone giant is looking into a possible purchase of AOL. Verizon is interested in AOL's advertising platform for possible online video content. The move is in the very early stages, so it may be awhile if/when anything comes from the inquiry.
HBO renews series for 5th season:
The series GIRLS has been given a 5th season renewal, just before its 4th season premiere, on HBO.
USA cancels vetran drama:
After five seasons, USA network has cancelled COVERT AFFAIRS, due to low ratings.
NBC cuts sitcom episode order:
Second year comedy ABOUT ABOY will have two less episodes than originally ordered. NBC has downsized the episodes count from 22 episodes, to 20 episodes.
