Primetime Cable Ratings: January 12, 2015

We have a new World Record!! The first ever Championship game of the College football playoffs posted the best ever cable numbers, of all time. The game commanded 33.3 million viewers and a 11.0 rating in Adults 18-49. That is about five million more viewers that watched either semi-final games, the previous week. This could be the beginning of the next "Super Bowl" level event, and cable TV (ESPN) has it.

The two studio shows that lead into the game averaged about 13 million viewers and a 4.1 demo rating. it is easy to say ESPN dominated Monday night, with their last football game for the next seven months.

Two episodes of MAJOR CRIMES held up well, considering the game as competition. from 8 to 10 p.m., the series averaged 3.6 million viewers and a 0.5 demo rating. That is down more than a half million viewers and two tenths in the demo, from last week's single episode.
