Final Broadcast Ratings: January 14, 2015
FOX swept the night, thanks to its new hit series EMPIRE. The new drama rose from its series premiere, last week, by 400,000 viewers and a half of one percent, in the A18-49 ratings. It was the #1 show of the night, in the demo, and was the second most watched program of the night. The increase is amplified by the fact that AMERICAN IDOL dropped, week-to-week, by a half a million viewers and a half a point in demo. EMPIRE seems legit!
ABC and its comedies pushed the network to second in the demo averages, third in total viewers. The only week spot is now BLACK-ISH, which seems to be losing a chunk of viewers to EMPIRE. The last two weeks, retention out of MODERN FAMILY has been under 70%. The last two orignal episodes of 2014, retention was a little under 80%. Even MODERN FAMILY is taking a hit, posting its second worst numbers of the season.
CBS isn't doing much better, ranking second in viewership and third in the demo. All three crime dramas look weak. even though they win their time slots, in total viewers. CRIMINAL MINDS was third in its hour, in the demo ratings.
Speaking of weak, NBC was a non factor in the night, placing a distant 4th place, in both categories. Compared to last week, NBC's average demo rating dropped two tenths and viewership was off by 800,000 viewers.
