Ratings Review: SONS OF ANARCHY (Season Seven)

When SONS OF ANARCHY aired its final episodes, FX said good-bye to its most successful series ever. This comes at a time when FX is having trouble finding the next generation of hit programs to continue though the next decade.

SONS OF ANARCHY had a great start and finish to its final season, but in the middle, the ratings softened a bit. Viewership dropped by 2.5 million viewers and the demo followed in similar fashion, dropping below a 2.0, at its lowest point.

The Live+3 ratings were strong, staying above six million viewers and peaking at over nine million viewers. The A18-49 demo  rose near a 5.0, at its highest, but staying above a 3.0 at its lowest.

Compared to Season 6, Season 7 of SOA posted increases of +8% in Total Viewers (7.54 million vs. 6.98 million), +5% in Adults 18-49 (5.0 million vs. 4.77 million), and +7% in Adults 25-54 (5.12 million vs. 4.77 million).

For the season, SONS OF ANARCHY averaged 4.65 million viewers and a 2.4 rating in Adults 18-49. SOA will be a huge void to fill for FX and, at the moment, AMERICAN HORROR STORY, the networks current ratings leader, is showing major signs of erosion in the ratings.
