Ratings Review: GRACEPOINT (Season One)

Not all things translate from England to America. GRACEPOINT is a good example of that statement. Based on the british series, Broadchurch, GRACEPOINT was a limited series for the fall of 2014, and is another FOX failure.

The series had a lot going for it. Based on a popular series in England. A short series run of a murder mystery. A former Dr. Who lead. And, BONES as the lead in. Non of that mattered as between 35 and 50% of the audience that watched BONES, left before GRACEPOINT came on, at 9 p.m.

In the Live+7 ratings, GRACEPOINT did build its A19-49 ratings by more than 50%, but starting out with a sub 1.0 demo rating. even a large percentage gain, is still a small rating.

For the season, GRACEPOINT averaged 3.59 million viewers and a 0.8 demo rating. After seven days, the demo rose to an average of a 1.4 rating. The series was quickly cancelled by FOX, after the finale. So, back to the drawing board for FOX.
