Preliminary Ratings: Sunday 12/21/14

CBS and NBC were the only two networks airing original programming, and they were the only two networks grabbing viewers. NBC won the night with 14 million viewers and a 4.4 demo rating, while CBS grabbed 11.1 million viewers and a 2.0 demo, to take second place. FOX and ABC posted low ones in the demo, but ABC more than doubled FOX in total viewers.

FOOTBALL, on both CBS and NBC, was the dominate programming of the night. Preliminary numbers have the CBS doubleheader overrun out pacing SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL. SNF may get a decent hit in the numbers as the game became a blowout in the second half.

CBS ran its regular schedule to decent numbers. But, each show dropped in the ratings, from the one before it. I know CBS is trying to get through both THE MENTALIST and CSI to get the late winter/spring series premiered, but new episode just four days before christmas, is not going to give you the best numbers.

ABC ran the classic theatrical movie THE SOUND OF MUSIC: SING-A-LONG, doing respectable numbers. It was a solid third though most of the night, and tying CBS in the 10 p.m. hour.

CW - 0.0 million viewers, 0.0 rating in A18-49

FOX - 2.6 million viewers, 1.1 rating in A18-49

NBC - 14.00 million viewers, 4.4 rating in A18-49
