Preliminary Ratings: Wednesday 12/17/14

CBS swept the Wednesday night broadcast ratings, with the two hour SURVIVOR finale and the reunion show that followed. The finale collected 9.7 million viewers and a 2.4 rating in Adults 18-49. Both numbers were the best of their respective categories. Compared to last year's finale, SURVIVOR is down a half a million viewers and lost two tenths in the A18-49 demo. But, last year's finale aired on Sunday night, not Wednesdays.

The SURVIVOR REUNION SHOW was the second most watched program of the night (7.9 million) and recored the second best demo rating (1.9). But it was up, slightly, in viewership from last fall's finale and flat in the demo.

Also having a season finale was HELL'S KITCHEN, on FOX. The two hour event tied with NBC, for third place, in both hours. Compared to the previous finale, on July 24th, HK dropped 1.6 million viewers and 23% in the demographic. I guess HELL'S KITCHEN is not ready to compete with the big boys of fall programming, yet.

NBC was consistent on the night, drawing a 1.3 demo ratings for all three hours, between the new Michael Buble holiday special and the two hour THE SING OFF. The numbers are about average for most holiday programming, this season, that are not the classic specials.

THE 100, on the CW, held its fall finale to ratings neat its season average. It didn't help matters that THE 100 had to overcome a weaker lead in to get its numbers.

CW - 1.6 million viewers, 0.5 rating in A18-49

NBC - 5.8 million viewers, 1.3 rating in A18-49
