Final Broadcast Ratings: December 2, 2014
It was a pretty competitive Tuesday night in the broadcast ratings. CBS was the most watched network, despite airing all encores on the night. NBC was the top network in the A18-49 ratings, but ABC was right on its heals, just a tenth of a ratings point behind NBC.
ABC was up from posted good numbers at 8 p.m., thanks to two well branded Christmas specials. TOY STORY THAT TIME FORGOT and A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS averaged 6.8 million viewers on the hour, along with a solid 2.0 demo rating. The animated shows were second, behind THE VOICE. Excluding last week's DANCING WITH THE STARS, this is the best numbers the hour has seen all season.
AGENTS OF SHIELD and FOREVER saw gains from their previous airings, two weeks earlier. Both shows bumped up two tenths of a point in the A18-49 ratings and rose about 800,000 in total viewership. Having a better lead in will slowly bring up the numbers for the dramas.
THE VOICE was up from last week's season low ratings, but the numbers are still off from the season average. It is sad to see that a 2.6 demo rating is the best number of a Tuesday night. Just imagine if CBS had aired a new episode of NCIS, against THE VOICE.
The NBC comedies are up from last week, with MARRY ME jumping two tenths of a point, for a 1.3 rating, in the demo. ABOUT A BOY matched THE MINDY PROJECT's demo ratings, but that should not be anything to brag about. CHICAGO FIRE was flat in the demo, but up1.3 million in total viewers, over last week.
FOX was an easy 4th place network, fighting off both a repeat filled CBS and the CW, in the demo ratings. FOX was 3rd in the 8 p.m. hour, thanks to a MASTERCHEF's 1.6 demo rating, but fell to 4th against a repeat of NCIS: NEW ORLEANS.
THE FLASH posted its best numbers since the series premiere. For only the second time in the season, the series was over four million viewers. Now it will be ARROW's turn to bring in the numbers, with the second half of the cross over event.
