Ratings Review: THE MILLERS (Season Two)

During the 2013-14 TV season, THE MILLERS was one of the highest rated freshmen comedies. Somewhere between may of 2014 and October 2014, something, internally, went wrong. CBS moved it away from Thursday nights and axed the series five episodes in. That is something that rarely happens to a sophomore series.

When CBS announces, in early October, that MOM and THE MILLERS would swap nights & time slots, you knew something was up with THE MILLERS. It went from the penthouse to the outhouse, with the CBS move. What happened between those in the production and the network? Was it bringing on Sean Hayes to the cast? Was a personal riff from the higher ups of the series and the network? Who knows. I doubt we may never know exactly the cause.

For the five episodes, THE MILLERS averaged 7.09 million viewers and a 1.7 rating in adults 18-49. If you are a fan of the series, look for the unaired episode(s) to come to Netflix/Amazon, at sometime in the near future.
