Ratings Archives: Week of June 22, 1998
CBS tops NBC for the weekly ratings, by just one tenth of a ratings point, in households. CBS' Sunday line up of 60 MINUTES, TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL and the made for TV movie, MARY AND TIME all made the top 15 chart. 60 MINUTES was the week's #1 program, drawing 14.3 million viewers and a 10/6 rating/23 share in households.
The week's top scripted drama was ER, ranking 3rd on the week. The Thursday night drama collected 13.6 million viewers and grabbed 19 percent of the available viewers.
The top comedy was not SEINFELD, but its lead out program, JUST SHOOT ME. The scrappy sitcom, starring David Spade and George Seigal, grew nearly a million more viewers than SEINFELD did. Of course, these are repeat episodes. that would never happen with both in original episodes.
A few shows from 1998 that we may have totally forgotten about. GEORGE & LEO, the failed CBS sitcom from Bob Newhart and Judd Hirsch. ABC's comedy SOUL MAN, starring Dan Aykroyd as a minister. The short lived sitcom WORKING, starring Fred Savage.
The week's five lowest rated programs were:
5) MOESHA (UPN) - 1.5 HH rating / 3 share
4) GOOD NEWS (UPN) - 1.5 HH rating / 3 share
3) THE SENTINEL (UPN) - 1.5 HH rating / 3 share
1) NICK FRENO (WB) - 1.4 HH rating / 2 share
1) CLUELESS (UPN) - 1.4 HH rating / 2 share
