  • FOX makes first major move of the TV season
  • TV Land picks up two new series
  • The FCC is making up its own, new bad words for TV
  • The CW gets funny drama/mystery series
FOX blinks first:
FOX has finally made a move to limit the bleeding UTOPIA is bringing to the network, by eliminating the Tuesday night edition of the series, effective immediately. In its place, MASTERCHEF JUNIOR will be the new occupant of the Tuesday, 8 p.m. slot, starting November 4th. Animated series reruns and the MLB Playoffs will fill the spot in the interim.



Netflix signs big name for Original Movies:
Despite recent letdowns at the box office, Netflix has signed Adam Sandler to an exclusive four movie production deal. Current movie studio commitments are not included in the deal.



TV LAND picks up new series:
The sitcoms IMPASTOR and TEACHERS were picked up by TV Land, for 10 episodes each. IMPASTOR will star Sara Rue(LESS THAN PERFECT) and Michael Rosenbaum (SMALLVILLE). TEACHERS will feature the improve group The Katydids and will be about six elementary school teachers.



NBC renews holiday series:
The group singing competition series,THE SING-OFF, will return for a fifth run, on NBC, this holiday season.



More STAR WARS before we get any:
Disney XD has renewed the animated series STAR WARS REBELS before the the series premiere, this Friday, October 3.



MISTRESS renewed, Actress leaves:
A day after the summer drama MISTRESSES was renewed for a third season, by ABC, lead actress Alyssa Milano announced sh is leaving the series. The actress cited the moving of the series production to Vancouver, Canada as the reason of the departure. Milano does not want to move her kids and family to the new location, or commute during the production.



FCC to make "Redskins" a profane word:
To make the networks and the individual bow to government pressure, the FXX is considering making the word "Redskins" a profanity. The NFL Washington franchise name would be an actionable incident, much like dropping an F-bomb, if used on TV.



The CW orders Brunckheimer series:
The Jerry Brunckheimer comedic drama/mystery series BONE HOUSE has been picked up to series by the CW. The series is about an off-beat family who one and operate a private autopsy company.



USA cancels one, renews another:
The two new Thursday night dramas, on USA, had completely different fates today. Relationship drama SATISFACTION was given a second season order, while RUSH, the higher rated show, was cancelled by the network.
