CBS is going Over The Top, offering its own streaming service for just $5.99 per month. This will bypass the need of a cable subscription to watch shows from the network, online. For the monthly fee, subscribers can stream shows live, see current shows the next day via ondemand, Access content from all of their cable channels, and access to their entire library, which includes all the STAR TREK series, CHEERS and THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW, just to name a few. Oh, and the service is available TODAY.
More scripts ordered for low rated series:
ABC has ordered more scripted from the three new Tuesday night series, SELFIE, MANHATTAN LOVE STORY and FOREVER. These three new shows averaged just a 1.0 rating in Adults 18-49 in last Tuesday's ratings.
Yet another Classic TV remake:
TV networks are showing strong interest in a proposed remake of the classic sitcom BEWITCHED. The new project is coming from the producers of the 2005 theatrical movie version of the series, starring Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrell.
NBC cancels sitcom before it airs:
Due to problems in casting the sitcom MISSION CONTROL, NBC has decided to cancel the project before it gets off the ground.
More movie to TV series:
The CW is developing a TV series based on the 2006 theatrical film THE ILLUSIONIST. That movie stared Edward Norton and Paul Giamatti, along with Jessica Biel. With the success the network had with two magic based reality series, MASTERS OF ILLUSION and PENN & TELL: FOOL US.
HBO to launch streaming service:
HBO announced earlier this week that they will launch a streaming service aimed at cord cutters and cord nevers. As good as that sounds, they stated they will work with "current" partners, along with new partners. This could mean that even if you don't have cable, you may need to have internet service via the cable company.
Google releases new OTT device:
ON the same day Google announce the Nexus 6, Nexus 9 and the name of the new Android OS, Lollipop, the company also released a new set top box. The box, NEXUS PLAYER, is much like the Fire TV from Amazon and the Roku. You can watch programing from content providers, like Netflix, Hulu and more, plus play game through the device. the retail price is $99.
SyFy picks up new series:
Based graphic novel DARK MATTER is becoming a new series on SyFy. The 13 episode series will premiere in 2015.
MANHATTAN gets second season:
WGN America has renewed the low rated drama MANHATTAN for a second season.
