Primetime Cable Ratings: October 8, 2014

The long anticipated season premiere of AMERICAN HORROR STORY finally arrived and dominated the cable chart. The season four opener commanded 6.1 million viewers and a robust 3.1 rating in Adults 18-49. This is not only the best season premiere of the series, but the best rated episode, ever. Year-to-year, viewership is up 600,000 and the demo rating rose one tenth of a ratings point.

SOUTHPARK was the next best rated cable series, placing 7th, with just over two million viewers. It was the #2 program of the night in the A18-49 ratings, drawing a 1.2 rating.

Eight of the top 15 programs were either theatrical movie or syndicated reruns from broadcast TV, with NCIS leading the way with all three primetime episodes making the list, averaging 2.2 million viewers, for the three hours.
