Final Broadcast Ratings: October 8, 2014

Nielsen Research came out this afternoon letting the industry know what some of us have suspected for a while. A technical bug has been producing incorrect numbers for the final Live + Same Day ratings. This explains ABC's inflated numbers since this pas spring. The fix was put in place for Thursday and that bump ABC was getting, is gone.

And now, back to the night's ratings

The top regular series was ABC's new crime drama, HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER, grabbing 10.7 million viewers and a 3.1 demo rating. That is down 1.5 million viewers, from last week, and a total of 3.6 million viewers gone since the series premiere. But, everything is down this week, so no need to overreact to the numbers.

Week two of GRACE POINT is down nearly 900,000 viewers and 25% in the A18-49 ratings. It is the lowest rated program, from the Big 4 networks, and the only show under a 1.0 in the demo ratings. Yet another walking wounded on the FOX schedule.

The NFL game started out looking like another blowout, but for those that stuck with the game, Houston came back in the second quarter to keep the game interesting and had a chance, in the end, to actually win the game. We'll see how the final numbers, released tonight, change to accuratly reflect viewership.

Week two of the CW Thursday night was down, slightly, from last Thursday, but REIGN a a tiny increase in overall viewership.NBC, like FOX, was a non factor in challenging for a top spot on the night.

CW - 1.4 million viewers, 0.6 rating in A18-49
