Final Broadcast Ratings: October 5, 2014
NBC closes out the second full week of the 2014-15 TV season with an easy sweep in the ratings. The SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL PACKAGE averaged just under 17 million viewers, along with a 6.4 rating in Adults 18-49, for the night, topping CBS (12.3 million/2.3 demo). ABC placed third on the night (6.2 million/1.9 demo), edging FOX in the demo rating (3.1 million/1.4 demo).
The football game, featuring another lopsided score, collected 19.4 million viewers and a 7.4 demo rating. This game is the lowest rated game of the season, for SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL.
CBS received a nice bump in the numbers, thanks to a half hour of NFL Overrun football. MADAM SECRETARY saw a 14% gain in the demo, over last week, but by the time THE GOOD WIFE came on, the halo effect from the NFL was gone. The veteran lawyer drama was close to the previous week's numbers, without a football bump. And, as usual, the late 10:30 start for the last drama of the night, takes a hit in the ratings, posting just a 1.3 demo ratings. Let's see if CSI has a strong Live+3 or Live+7 numbers for the episode.
FOX had two premieres, starting with BOB's BURGERS, at 7:30 p.m. The animated comedy drew decent, but not great, numbers for the premiere. I expect this to be the last season of BOB's BURGERS, with its assignment of the 7:30 p.m. slot this fall.
MULANEY came in DOA, following FAMILY GUY. The live action comedy lost 45% of the A18-49 ratings that FAMILY GUY delivered, and dropped nearly 40% of the total audience. FOX has too many holes to drop the sitcom, but I can see a quick flip between BOB'S BURGERS and MULANEY happening very soon.
Here is a look at the gains/loses of the Sunday night programs, from last week's premieres.
ONCE UPON A TIME - lost 1.0 million viewers and -3% in the A18-49 ratings.
RESURRECTION - lost 1.7 million viewers and -20% in the A18-49 ratings.
REVENGE - lost 400,000 viewers and -7% in the A18-49 ratings.
THE SIMPSONS - down 4.2 million viewers and lost 49% of the demo rating.
BROOKLYN NINE-NINE - down 2.2 million viewers and lost 38% of the demo rating.
FAMILY GUY - down 4.9 million viewers and lost 68% of the demo rating.
