Complete Nielsen Ratings: October 20 - 26, 2014
The full Nielsen rankings and ratings from #1 to #87:
CBS and FOX take the top two spots of the week, with strong sports programming. CBS takes four of the five reported categories, including two of the three demographic categories. FOX ties CBS in the A18-49 demo and takes the younger A18-34 demographic. NBC placed third on the week and ABC was a distant fourth.
For FOX, it was all about the World Series. All five games on the week, placed in the top 20, despite posting some all-time low numbers for the fall classic. Games two and five made the top 10, grabbing over 12.5 million viewers each. FOX also had the lowest rated program of the Big 4 networks, as Sunday's pregame show ranked fifth from the bottom.
THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL ended on CBS and it was the first time the weekday primetime game topped Sunday Night Football. Add that to the one hour overrun of Sunday afternoon games, plus a strong line up and you see the network take six of the top seven shows, including the top two programs. In total, CBS had 16 top 30 programs, and all but the Saturday night shows placed in the top 50.
NBC had an off week with SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL only placing third and both episodes of THE VOICE finished outside the top 10. The network had just five programs in the top 30, with THE BLACKLIST as the only scripted series in the mix. However, with TNF done on CBS, NBC should have an easy time winning each week, until the new year.
ABC only had one top 10 program, DANCING WITH THE STARS at #10, and a total of four top 30 programs. MODERN FAMILY, SCANDAL and HTGAWM placed 20 through 22, respectively.
