It was a mixed bag of news from ABC Family as the cable network renews YOUNG & HUNGRY for a second season, and cancels freshman comedy MYSTERY GIRLS.
Jenna Elfman/20th Century FOX ink deal:
The studio and actress have completed a deal to develop a new series for the actress. It was with 20th that she hit big with DHARM & GREG, but since then has had four series that have not made it beyond a first season.
CBS series to end after 2015 season:
Long running crime drama THE MENTALIST will end after its 13 episode run, this season, its seventh season.
Lifetime renews drama:
Sophomore series DEVIOUS MAIDS has been given a 13 episode, third season order by Lifetime.
More WIZARD WARS:
Syfy has added six more episodes to the first season order of the Pen & Teller magic series. The new episodes will air in January, 2015.
IRON MAN director to produce NFL historical drama:
Jon Favreau, director of IRON MAN, is developing a historical drama about the history of pro football, starting in the early 1920's. The drama would be multi-season run and look at the sports by each decade. NBC, FOX, A&E and History are interested in the project.
