Ratings Review: RISING STAR (Season One)
If RISING STAR had any chance of survival, NBC did its best to squash those chances, throwing special Sunday episodes of two of its popular series against the first two weeks of the ABC series.
Despite the aggressive counter programming, RISING STAR did have a promising start. The first four weeks looked like it could have weathered the competition and grow to become a decent summer series. But once the mid point hit, the ratings fell quickly. the A18-49 ratings dropped nearly 50% in just four weeks, hitting its lowest point in week #8.
For the 10 episode season, RISING STAR averaged 4.08 million viewers and a 1.1 rating in Adults 18-49. Surprisingly, there will be a second season, airing in the winter of 2015.
