Ratings Review: EXTANT (Season One)

CBS was hoping/expecting EXTANT to be this year's UNDER THE DOME. That did not happen. It became another average drama, drawing in moderate ratings. EXTANT is looking to become Extinct.

A strong series premiere gave CBS hope for another summer hit, but by episode three, those hopes were crushed. More than half the audience left the series, by the low point in mid-September. Given what looks like an expensive show to produce, CBS may be forced to let EXTANT be a one-and-done season series.

For the season, EXTANT averaged 6.24 million viewers and a 1.1 rating in Adults 18-49. The series still has a chance at life after 2014, given the international distribution. Fans should hope the reception of the series was better abroad, than domestic.
