Final Broadcast Ratings: September 4, 2014

There really is only one thing to talk about from Thursday night's ratings. The first game of the NFL SEASON, on NBC. I think it is an understatement to say that NBC swept the night, posting the best ratings of the five networks.

NBC kicked of it's primetime coverage of the NFL season with the annual KICK-OFF Thursday night game, featuring the Seattle Seahawks vs the Green Bay Packers. The game itself drew 26.9 million viewers and a 10.2 demo rating, more than quadrupling the A18-49 rating BIG BROTHER earned. Year-to-year, the game is up 1.8 million viewers, but off by one tenth of a ratings point. Still, a great showing by the NFL. CBS will now have the next 8 Thursday nights and NBC will have to battle for the weekly wins that came so easy last season.

THE QUEST, on ABC, had a pretty pathetic showing on the night, posting one of the lowest numbers of the summer, for an ABC original program. I believe it is very safe to say that there will not be a second season of THE QUEST.

CBS did have the nights second most watched program of the night in BIG BANG, and the #3 show in the A18-49 ratings, with BIG BROTHER.

ABC - 2.6 million viewers, 0.7 rating in A18-49

CBS - 5.6 million viewers, 1.5 rating in A18-49

CW - 0.5 million viewers, 0.2 rating in A18-49

FOX - 2.1 million viewers, 0.6 rating in A18-49

NBC - 23.1 million viewers, 8.6 rating in A18-49
