Complete Nielsen Ratings: Sept. 1 - 7, 2014
The full Nielsen rankings and ratings from #1 to #86:
Football dominated the weekly TV ratings this week, and NBC is the big winner for it. The network swept the weekly ratings and took four of the top six spots on the charts, all football related programs.
With two primetime football games and two hours of studio/pregame shows, one-third of NBC's schedule was NFL programming. Both games drew nearly 27 million viewers, on Thursday, and just under 24 million on Sunday. FOOTBALL NIGHT IN AMERICA placed 4th and 14th, while the NFL KICK-OFF SHOW, on Thursday, took the #6 spot.
FOX rose to the #2 spot, with help from the NFL overrun game, on Sunday evening, and THE OT, right afterwards. However, there are the only two FOX shows in the top 25. The network's ratings were also boosted by a rare Saturday night win by the weekly college football game. The Pac 12 home game match up beat both Notre Dame football and the NASCAR RACE.
CBS, up from last week, did relatively well, even with out any football help. The network placed 14 programs in the top 30. BIG BROTHER too the three top spots on the A18-49 chart, that was not a NFL related program. CBS should give NBC a run for its money, in next week's chart, with the premiere of THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL.
ABC was a distant 4th place, as the network pushed just three shows in the top 30, lead by 20/20 at #26. Hot a lot of positives for ABC, as the summer season draws to close.
