Ratings Review: LAST COMIC STANDING (Summer 2014)

LAST COMIC STANDING is the TV equivalent of Frankenstein's monster and The Mummy. The are the undead, haunting us year in and tear out, just when we thought they had been killed.

 This is the third resurrection of the series. It was originally cancelled after the 2004 season. Two years later, NBC brings it back in 2006, for three more seasons, then cancels it, again, in 2008. The series returns, again, in 2010, for a one season run. Then, coming back from the dead for a third time, LAST COMIC STANDING is back on the schedule for 2014.

The ratings started out promising, but a third through the season, the ratings dropped. It would be two whole months, until the season finale, that LCS would pull in a demo rating greater than a 1.1. Not a good sign for a series that could always be on it's last lifeline.

For the season, LAST COMIC STANDING averaged 3.91 million viewers and a 1.2 rating in Adults 18-49. The series will return in 2015, for a ninth season, but even if/when it is cancelled again, it will be back to haunt the TV airwaves!
