Final Cable Ratings: July 21, 2014
FOX and ABC split the Monday night leadership, with ABC getting the most viewers (6 million), while FOX takes the A18-49 ratings (1.8). NBC and CBS were right there with them CBS was #2 in total viewers, and NBC was second in the demo averages.
FOX gave us the season premiere of HOTEL HELL, another Gordon Ramsey series, and it did fill the void left by 24, in the A18-49 ratings. The 1.5 rating HOTEL HELL generated is better than the number 24 generated, two weeks earlier. However, the four million viewers is smaller than 24 would bring to the time slot. But, Gordon Ramsey is a 'young skewing' attraction. All of his TV series have very similar ratios of viewers to demo.
AMERICAN NINJA WARRIOR grew two tenths of a ratings point, over last week, helping push NBC past ABC in the A18-49 numbers. That is the best rating for the series, this season, since the June 2nd episode.
ABC drew the most viewers on the night, on the strength of THE BACHELOR special "MEN TELL ALL." The episode was the most watched show of the night and was an increase of 180,000 viewers, over last week.
CBS' UNDER THE DOME trekked downward, again. Week-to-week DOME lost nearly one million viewers and a fell 21% in the A18-49 ratings. If the once hot series keeps this trend up, we will not see a third season of UNDER THE DOME.
Over on the CW, the two new comedies SEED and BACKPACKERS are beyond DOA. They are pulling near all-time lows, for the CW, for an original program. The CW needs to kill both shows, now, but it really has nothing to fill the void and help increase the numbers.
