TV News Roundup: May 8, 2014
There is a whole lot of picking up and cancelling going on today. FOX axed four shows, CW picked up four shows and renewed two. NBC renews a veteran drama, and much, much more intoday's TV News Roundup!
What is Happening at FOX Today:
To the surprise of no one, FOX cancelled three comedies DADS, SURVIVING JACK and ENLISTED, and cancelled the dramedy RAKE. The network also announced that AMERICAN IDOL would be back for a 14th season.
CW 's Movements:
The CW announced that two low rated dramas BEAUTY & THE BEAST and HART OF DIXIE have been renewed, along with hit freshman series THE 100. The network also picked up four new dramas, THE FLASH, JANE THE VIRGIN, THE MESSENGERS and iZOMBIE. [LINK]
The network also officially cancelled STAR CROSSED, THE CARRIE DIARIES and THE TOMORROW PEOPLE.
Over at 30 Rockefeller:
NBC renewed the veteran crime drama LAW & ORDER: SVU for next season, then the network picked up three new series. The first series is the DC Comics "superhero" based drama CONSTANTINE. The second series is the Debra Messing crime drama MYSTERIES OF LAURA. The third series is a romantic comedy titled A TO Z.
OUTLANDER Premiere Set:
The highly anticipated new original series OUTLANDER that is executive produced by Ronald D. Moore will premiere Saturday, August 9th at 9pm.
PBS Released Fall Schedule:
PBS released it planed series and specials for the upcoming fall TV season. The list includes specials commemorating the 50th anniversary of the JFK assasination. Disney Orders New Family Series:
K.C. UNDERCOVER has been ordered to series by Disney and will have an early 2015 premiere.
A&E ORDERS Four Reality Series:
A&E has picked up for reality series to add to it's line up. DOGS OF WAR is a show about pairing dogs with war veterans. GODFATHER OF PITTSBURGH is about an Italian nightclub owner, LOVE PRISON is a "social experiment" series, and LONE STAR LADY is a family docu-series.
