The TV news is heating up as we get closer to next week's upfront presentations from broadcast and cable networks. FOX and NBC making last minute moves and NBC secures the Olympics for the next 18 years. This and a lot more in today's TV News Roundup!
NBCUniversal & IOC extend TV Agreement to 2032:
Paying a total of $7.75 billion, NBCUniversal will get exclusive rights to six more Olympic games, from 2021 to 2032. [LINK]
NBC Pushed Pilots to series:
- Described as a "TRAFFIC" like action drama, ODYSSEY has been picked up to series.
- Comedy UNBREAKABLE KIMMY SCHMIDT, from Tins Fey, gets a 13 episode order.
- STATE OF AFFAIRS, a crime drama starring Katherine Heigl, has been ordered to series.
- The Casey Wilson/Ken Marino comedy MARRY ME has the greenlight to go to series.
- Drama ALLEGIANCE is also going to series for next season.
NBC will unveil it's 2014-15 line up this Sunday, May 11, 2014.
FOX 2014-15 Series Update:
- EMPIRE, a family/hip-hop music drama is set for a 2014-15 series debut.
- Medical dramedy RED BAND SOCIETY receives a series order from FOX.
- FOX upped the episode order of the new comedy MULANEY, from 6 to 16.
FOX's upfront presentation is Monday, May 12, 2014.
VICE Receives Order for Two More Seasons:
HBO has given the VICE a two season pick up order, covering 2015 and 2016. Next season will feature 14 episodes of the series.
More SLEEPY HOLLOW for 2014-15 Season:
FOX is looking to up the epsiode order for SLEEPY HOLLOW from 13 episodes, in season one, to at least 15 episode for next season. The episode count could extent upwards to 18 episodes, for 2014-15.
TNT Picks Up Two Dramas:
TNT has picked up the 60's cop drama PUBLIC MORALS and the supernatural drama, PROOF. PROOF is from executive producer Kyra Sedgwick, and stars Jennifer Beals and Matthew Modine.
TBS Greenlights Steve Carell Comedy:
Police comedy ANGIE TRIBECA, from Steve and Nancy Carell, has been given the greenlight for 10 episodes, starting in 2015. The series will star Rashida Jones (PARKS & REC) and Jere Burns (JUSTIFIED).
New MILLIONAIRE Host Named:
As was rumored last week, Terry Crews (BROOKLYN NINE-NINE) will be the new host of the game show WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE.
TBS Picks Up Second Comedy:
Form the creators of WILL & GRACE, TBS pucks up the sitcom BUZZY'S.
BIKER BATTLEGROUND PHOENIX:
That is the title of the new custom bike reality, series set to premiere on July 1st, on History.
