TV News Roundup: May 30, 2014

As May 2014 comes to a close, we learned that just because you are renewed, does not mean you cant get cancelled. If you want your commercial seen during the biggest TV event of 2015, you'll pay a lot more than in 2014. And, Disney-ABC Banks on a new talk show for 2015.

ARSENIO Cancelled After Renewal:
CBS Television Distribution has cancelled the syndicated ARSENIO HALL SHOW after just one season. In February ARSENIO was renewed for a second season, but the cancellation as a result of many major station groups demoting the show to lesser time slots.



Tyra Banks Gets Talk Show:
Supermodel Tyra Banks will have her own daytime talk show, distributed through Disney-ABC. The show does not have an official title and will premiere in 2015.



NBC Asking for Record Ad Fees:
NBC has the next Super Bowl, in February of 2015, and is asking for a record $4.5 million for a 30 second ad. NBC has about 40 spots for sale, with approximately half gone to multi-year buyers of the annual game. For the 2014 game, FOX got around $4.0 million per spot.



SYFY Renews Freshman Series:
SyFy has renewed the first year series BITTEN for a second season. The order is for 10 episodes in 2015.
