Final Broadcast Ratings: May 22, 2014
Well, is officially the 2014 Summer TV season as repeats become more and more prevalent. But, this Thursday night, we actually had more new programming, than old. NBC, FOX and the CW all programs a full night of new shows, while ABC and CBS still have original episodes of mid-season burn-offs.
The CW gave us part one of the mini-series LABYRINTH, and the numbers are not half bad, for the CW. The program hauled in 1.3 million viewers and a 0.4 rating in Adults 18-49. That is much better than repeats of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES and REIGN would have pulled in.
Over on FOX, we got the series premiere of GANG RELATED, the new drama about an elite LA Police gang task force. Well, the "gang" didn't so up. the ratings were a very disappointing 2.9 million viewers and a 0.9 demo rating. GANG RELATED lost over 40% of the young demographic, from it's HELL'S KITCHEN lead in. 13 episodes were ordered, but you have to wonder if FOX will air them all, with the numbers starting so low.
Like a bad horror, slasher film, THE LAST COMIC STANDING just will not stay dead. Resurrected for the third time, the series go off to a relatively good start. It won both the 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. hours, in both total viewers and in the A18-49 ratings. But, 5.4 million viewers and a 1.7 demo rating is not strong and it did have about half its competition in repeats. We'll see if viewers stay with the show or if we should be counting down to another resurrection, in 2017.
