Broadcast Final Ratings: May 20, 2014
On the second to the last night of the 2013-14 season, we got the crowning of two champions, a series premiere, The CW beating two other networks and Judge Judy.
DANCING WITH THE STARS was the night's most watched program, grabbing 15.1 million viewers and a 2.4 rating in Adults 18-49. That is down, slightly, from the previous night's program, which scored just over 15.6 million viewers. The winner of the season's competition was Olympic gold medalist Meryl Davis.
Taking the night's top spot in the A18-49 ratings was THE VOICE. It scored a 3.3 demo rating, up 3% from the night before. To reflect on the season of THE VOICE, the series scored just under 16 million viewers and a 4.7 demographic rating. The drop to the season finale is 27% in total viewers and 30% in the demo graphic. The winner of this season's THE VOICE was Indiana's Josh Kaufman.
FOX's AMERICAN IDOL had it's last night of performances fans could vote on. Starting at 8 p.m. IDOL drew just 6.8 million viewers and a 1.7 demo rating. Those numbers indicate a struggle to beat "recap" episodes of both DWTS and THE VOICE.
Following the voice was the new reality series I WANT TO MARRY HARRY, and apparently no one really cares. The show dropped over 70% of it's lead in audience and was the night's lowest rated original program, including The CW. It would not surprise me in the least, if FOX were to pull the series some time today, Thursday at the latest.
Speaking of the CW, the season finale of SUPER NATURAL defeated both FOX and CBS, in the A18-49 ratings, during the 9 p.m. hour. The long running series even drew more viewers that HARRY did.
Last and not least, CBS gave us two specials instead of repeats of it's crime drama lineup. Bad Mistake. Both shows failed to reach a 1.0 in the A18-49 ratings, and only JUDGE JUDY was able to draw over five million viewers. It may the first and last time Judge Judy will be seen in primetime.
