TV News Roundup: March 13

CBS Renews 18 More Series:
Along with THE BIG BANG THEORY and SURVIVOR, 18 more CBS series will return next season. Everything but THE MENTALIST, THE CRAZY ONES and INTELLIGENCE received the good news. We'll have to wait until May to see if the remaining three come back.



Three New Original Series for Netflix:
As part of the deal with Dreamworks, Netflix will premiere three new animated series, late this year. The three series are PUSS IN BOOTS, from the movie franchise SHREK. From the MADAGASCAR universe is KING JULIEN, about the royal lemur. The third series is a reboot of the faith-based series VGEIE TALES IN THE HOUSE. [Read More]



Amazon Prime Raising Prices:
Amazon is raising the annual price for it's TV streaming service from $79 per year to $99 per year. When you break it down, it is still slightly cheaper than the monthly fee for a Netflix Subscription. Plus, with the service, you get FREE two-day shipping on Prime items, from Amazon.com.



New Awards Show for Nickelodeon:
Taking place on July 17, in Los Angeles, The inaugural KID CHOICE SPORTS AWARDS honor kids favorite teams, athletes, and sports moments from the past year. Michael Strahan will serve as host of the new event.



New Cast Member for H5O:
Jorge Garcia has been promoted to a series regular when HAWAII FIVE-O begins it's fifth season, this fall.



A&E Pulls New Series:
After just to episodes, A&E has pulled the new series THOSE WHO KILL, because of low ratings. BATES MOTEL will move back to it's original 10 p.m. time slot



Hallmark Movie Channel to Rebrand:
The cable network called Hallmark Movie Channel will rebrand to Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. The new name will change sometime after October, 2014. Along with original movies, HMM will launch a movie mystery wheel of films, plus add a mix of syndicated and original programs.



New CW Series Premieres in June:
The new CW reality series FAMOUS IN 12 is slated to premiere on June 3, 2014. The series will follow the lives of one family as they move to LA and try to make it in the entertainment industry.
