Ratings: Broadcast Finals for January 23, 2014

The series premiere of the new FOX dramedy RAKE was a bit of a disappointment in the Thursday night ratings. The episode lost nearly half of the audience from AMERICAN IDOL, in both categories, and just barely topped the repeat comedies in the A18-49 ratings. In today's TV world, it is harder to build an audience after ratings are week from the beginning.

American Idol was the nights #1 program in total viewers (12.4 million) and in Adults 18-49 (3.4 rating). Drop off from last week's Thursday episode was just one million viewers and 13% in the demo ratings. Not horrible considering the uphill battle the series is fighting to win viewers back to the series.

CBS was the only other network making a dent in the ratings, even with an all-repeat line up. A double dose of THE BIG BANG THEORY were the only two other shows on the night to score a 2.0 rating, or better, in the A18-49 ratings. All five CBS programs were in the top seven most watched shows.

ABC - 4.0 million viewers, 1.2 rating in Adults 18-49

CBS - 8.9 million viewers, 1.9 rating in Adults 18-49

CW - 2.2 million viewers, 0.4 rating in Adults 18-49

FOX - 9.7 million viewers, 2.6 rating in Adults 18-49

NBC - 3.2 million viewers, 1.1 rating in Adults 18-49
