Primetime Cable Ratings: January 9, 2014

PAWN STARS dominates the Thursday night cable scene with the two episodes, during the 9 p.m. hour, taking the top two spots of the night. For the hour, the hit reality series averaged 4.7 million viewers and was the only cable program of the night to attract an audience of over 3.5 million.

With a great lead in of PAWN STARS, History premiered the new series APPALACHIAN OUTLAWS to 2.8 million viewers, at 10 p.m., placing 6th on the night. A loss of two million viewers from the 9 o'clock hour should be concerning for History, but these shows do take time to build a following.

NBA basketball on TNT took the #3 spot on the chart, with over 3.1 viewers watching the NY Knicks upset the defending NBA champions Miami Heat.
