Primetime Cable Ratings: January 17, 2014

Disney places all three of it's primetime programs within the top five, including Friday night's top program, CLOUD 9. The movie drew a solid 5.0 million viewers, besting GOLD RUSH, which collected just above 4.0 million viewers.

The new Disney Series I DIDN'T DO IT, takes the third spot with 3.9 million viewers, losing about 20% of it's movie lead in. The power of Friday night kid programming is truly underestimated. Disney may not get direct ad dollars, but come renewal of carriage fees with the cable operators and the House the Mouse built has the upper hand.

New SyFy series HELIX had a big drop in it's second week, losing a half a million viewers and dropping out of the top 10. Not surprised by the drop as viewership starts to settle in, but there is not a lot of wiggle room, that close to the bottom.
