Miniseries looking to comeback, Aereo looking forward to Supreme Court battle and Showtime cancels long running series.

MONDAY:
  • CBS orders miniseries for 2015:
    CBS has ordered a four hour mini series titled THE DOVEKEEPERS, based on a 2011 novel. Marc Burnett and Roma Downey are set to produce
  • Showtime Axes CALIFORNICATION:
    After seven seasons, Showtime has cancelled CALIFORNICATION.
TUESDAY:
  • Aereo looking for broadband internet partners:
    Aereo is looking for broadband partners to pair up with it's streaming service. Ideally, it invasions a $50 bundle with the local TV streaming service and broadband internet. [LINK]
  • ROSEMARY'S BABY remake:
    NBC has ordered a four hour miniseries on ROSEMARY'S BABY, adapting Ira Levin's novel.
  • More Chromecast native apps:
    Google announced ten more apps that will allow Chromecast to work natively within their apps. The new apps are Plex, Avia, RealPlayer Cloud, RedBull.TV, Songza, Vevo, Viki, Revision3, BeyondPod and the Washington Post/Post TV.
WEDNESDAY:
  • BIO to become FYI:
    A&E networks have announced that the BIO channel will be rebranded FYI for a summer 2014 launch. FYI will be a lifestyle network on how people live their lives today.
THURSDAY:
  • Aereo ready for Supreme Court:
    Two months after broadcasters petitioned the Supreme Court to overturn the denied injunction on Aereo, the streaming service company did block the petition and is ready to take on the broadcasters in the highest court in the land.
  • Golden Globes Awards nominees announce:
    HBO leads the TV networks with 9 nominations, but Showtime, Starz and Netflix are right behind them, with 6 a piece. [LINK]
  • CW Releases mid-season schedule:
    Two new dramas will premiere in early 2014, plus the return of WHOSE LINE... to the schedule. Two current series will move to new nights and one veteran drama will go on hiatus. [LINK]
  • More SURVIVOR for 2014-15:
    CBS has renewed the long running reality competition series SURVIVOR for two more cycles. By may, 2015, SURVIVOR will have complete 30 editions of the game.
FRIDAY:
  • Charter looking at TWC takeover:
    Charter Communications is preparing a take over of Time Warner Cable of about $135 per share.
