Ratings Review: NBC Tuesdays - November Sweeps
NBC started out as the #1 network on the night, but by the end of the month, it had fallen to 3rd place, in the important A18-49 ratings.
The main reason for the fall is THE VOICE's slide down the ratings. In just these four weeks, the demographic ratings have dropped 12% and viewership is down a million viewers. The series experienced this back in the spring edition. The slide did not end until the finale, and even then, to was not spectacular ratings, like it had started the season with.
CHICAGO FIRE was preempted twice by 2hr editions of THE VOICE, but the inconsistent airings may have hurt it in the ratings as it lost over 7000, viewers between episodes. But that can also be attributed to THE VOICE becoming weaker between those two weeks. This is a good series for NBC and it should not change a thing.
Kicking off the night for NBC Tuesdays is THE BIGGEST LOSER. It is not weak show for the network, but it did bring down the nightly average when NBC added it to the night and paired down THE VOICE to just one hour. But, unlike THE VOICE, it has seen growth the last few weeks and should continue to build until it's season finale.
NBC has yet to release it's mid-season slate, so who knows how intact this lineup will be in 2014. It is still a storming night for the network, but there are other nights that are desperate for ratings and one of these series could help.
