Ratings Review: CBS Mondays - November Sweeps
What was once one of their stronger nights of the week, CBS is now, at best, a 3rd place network, on the night. HIMYM is the only series doing good numbers, pulling over a 3.0 rating in Adults 18-49. But the numbers slid as the month progressed. It was the only program on the night to lose audience members in both categories. They need to get the story moving and finish up the wedding between Barney and Robin.
The move to 8:30 may have saved 2 BROKE GIRLS. The ratings have stabilized and is ready to get the numbers going up. It is not going to be a series to anchor the night. It will be a strong utility worker, bridging one hit to another and/or filling holes.
I am not confident that MIKE & MOLLY is the series to take the beignets spot of the night, but CBS really did not have much of a choice. It is a positive to see the numbers maintain at a consistent level. It will do the job it needs to, until the end of the season.
The 9:30 p.m. slot is where things go down hill for CBS. As a new series, people are switching channels to see the end of THE VOICE or DWTS. Ratings are improving and the week four numbers, of the November Sweeps, are the strongest for the series in a while.
HOSTAGES is at the point of the loyal viewers wanting to see how it ends. The numbers have been in the 4.5 to 5.5 million viewer range and low one in the demo, for quite a while. It will end soon dn CBS will insert the new series INTELLIGENCE in January.
All four sitcoms will need to take advantage of January and February, with no DWTS or THE VOICE, and get viewers excited to want to watch the block again. Hopefully, for CBS, the new 10 p.m. drama INTELLIGENCE will be a draw, and not a repellant, for viewers. Accomplish that and CBS could be in the #2 position for the remainder of the season.
