Ratings Review: ABC Tuesdays - November Sweeps

AGENTS of S.H.I.E.L.D. was the most anticipated new show of the 2013-14 season, but by the November sweeps, it was just another under performing series on the ABC network. SHILED has become just "another" series on TV. It has little buzz and the ratings have been free falling. But, it is encouraging to see the numbers flex up in week three of the sweeps and a nice boost by DWTS in week four. Can SHILED build on the momentum it has gotten the last two weeks and rebuild the franchise, or come 2014, it returns to be a 3rd place series in it's time slot?

I was kind-of shocked when ABC announced that both THE GOLDBERGS and TROPHY WIFE received a full season order. At the time, neither were the top performing new comedy from the network and the numbers have hit below FOX, in the A18-49 ratings. Together, the comedies rank fourth in their 9 p.m. time slot with no signs of improvement.

Since LUCKY 7 was axed early in the season, ABC has been filling the 10 p.m. slot with specials and encores. The best of this came in week four as DANCING WITH THE STARS held it's season finale on the night, from 9 to 11 p.m. That special airing drew 14.8 million viewers and a 2.4 rating in Adults 18-49. Easily the most viewers for the time periods and the best A18-49 numbers seance premiere week. With as much troubles ABC has been having this season, they may need DWTS to go back to two nights, to help out the night.
