Ratings Review: NBC Wednesdays - First 4 Weeks
Wednesday nights on NBC is more like the NBC we have come to know over the recent years. Low rated shows and cancellations early in the season.
Showing weakness at mid season, 2013-13, REVOLUTION finds a new time slot on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. Ofter the initial turn in for the season premiere, it looks as if the futuristic action series has settled into a viewing audience of 5.5 million and a mid one in the A18-49 ratings. A pretty weak series to open the night as it placed 4th in the hour. It may even have a chance at 5th place if the CW's THE ORIGINALS catches on with a wider audience.
LAW & ORDER: SVU continues to be the stronger program of the night. It raises the audience numbers by about 20%+ from REVOLUTION, but still is a 4th place program, for the hour. If a reliable new series can be found for 10 PM, it could have an affect on SVU and raise its numbers in the process.
IRONSIDE was DOA with its series premiere. Losing 35% of its A18-49 ratings lead in put it on high alert for cancellation. When the third episode was down another 30% and in danger of a sub one demo ratings, NBC rightly pulled the plug on the series. The USAToday had a nice stat on the series as it had the oldest average audience age (58.9 years) for all new series this season.
