Ratings: Broadcast Finals for September 29, 2013
It was a night of all original programming as ABC FOX and CBS premiere their sunday lineups against NBC's SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL.
Fairing the best was FOX, with help of a 30 minute overrun of their late NFL Doubleheader game. The Broncos vs Eagles game brought 26.7 million viewers into prime-time. That allowed THE OT to premiere with 12.9 million viewers at the bottom of the 7 p.m. hour. FOX has a good foundation to debut the Animation Domination block.
Of the four 'toons, THE SIMPSONS performed the best, collecting 6.4 million viewers and a 2.9 rating in Adults 18-49. BOB'S BURGERS lost a good chunk of that SIMPSONS audience, but FAMILY GUY brought the viewership back over five million. Closing out the night, AMERICAN DAD scored lower than BOB's BURGERS, an hour earlier. Failing to truly capitalize on the football lead in means the FOX cartoons will have a long and low rated season. But, it should still be competitive with ABC and CBS.
ABC fared well with its premiere, although both ONCE UPON A TIME and REVENGE are down, year-to-year. OUAT's drop off was 2.8 million viewers and 33% in the demo ratings. But they are better ratings than what the series was pulling in last spring. REVENGE was down about 1.5 million viewers and a 26% in the A18-49 ratings, from last year.
The new ABC drama did not get off to a good star. BETRAYAL lost 36% of the REVENGE audience and posted only a 1.5 mark in Adults 18-49. It will be battling with LUCKY 7 over who will gat axed first by the network.
CBS performed about how it does every Sunday evening. High viewership, but low demographic ratings. Only THE AMAZING RACE scored a demo rating of 2.0, or better. All four show were down from lat year, and as a network CBS was off by nearly a million viewers per hour and 20% in the demo ratings.
NBC obviously won the night with it's Sunday Night Football coverage and the game just edged out THE BIG BANG THEORY in total viewers.
