Ratings: Broadcast Finals for October 25, 2013
NBC officially kicked of its 2013-14 Friday night season with the season premiere of GRIMM and the series premiere of DRACULA. Both shows pulled in a 1.8 rating in Adults 18-49, good enough for GRIMM to place second in the hour and DRACULA to win the 10 p.m. hour.
Last year, GRIMM had an early August season premiere, on Monday Nights, and drew 1/2 million viewers less than this year, but was 10% higher in the A18-49 ratings. Compared to it's Friday night premiere, in Late September, 2013, GRIMM was up 800k in viewership and 13% in the demo. Either way, it looks as if GRIMM is doing about as expected on the night.
It is a little concerning that DRACULA lost nearly one million viewers form its GRIMM lead in, but it held the A18-49 ratings steady. If the show is done well, it has a great chance to easily win the hour in the Demo ratings and could build to a respectable level in total viewership. Otherwise, we may be seeing comedy encores on Friday nights again.
NBC was not the only network with season premieres. The CW debuted the second season of THE CARRIE DIARIES. With just 780,000 viewers and a 0.3 rating in Adults 18-49, the season opener was down 22% in viewership and 25% in the demo, from April's season finale. Compared to January's series premiere, the second season is down over 50% in and demo ratings. Unless this is an "All In" series, for 5 years, Season 2 has got to be the last season of THE CARRIE DIARIES.
