Ratings: Broadcast Finals for October 10, 2013
For the second night in a row, every program experienced week-to-week losses, except one, GLEE. The musical comedy series paid tribute to Cory Monteith in Thursday's episode and it brought in the best ratings GLEE has seen in over a year. The 7.4 million viewers and 2.8 rating in Adults 18-49 was good enough to be tied at #1 for the hour, with ABC and CBS, in the demo ratings. But, expect a massive fall next week when the series returns to its normal scripts.
Premiering on the night was the spin-off series ONCE UPON A TIME IN WONDERLAND, in the 8 p.m. slot for ABC. The show drew just 5.7 million viewers and a 1.7 rating in Adults 18-49. Year-to-year in the time slot, for ABC, that is a loss of about one million viewers, but up one tenth of a ratings point in the demo. But compared to the series premiere of LAST RESORT, OUATiW was off by 2.5 million viewers and 23% in the A18-49 ratings. Eather way, it is not a good sign of a long run for the new series.
NBC was really hit hard by the ratings drop. four of the five series experienced losses of about 30%, or more, from last week. PARKS & REC's loss was less than 10%, but it was starting out at a low number to begin with.
Interesting that an encore airing of THE ORIGINALS brought in the same number of viewers as did the original airing, two days earlier. This is a great sign for the series and it should perform well for quite a while.
