Complete Nielsen Ratings: Week of Oct. 7, 2013
The full Nielsen rankings and ratings from #1 to #96:
Three networks claimed ratings category titles this past week. FOX takes the A18-34 ratings, edging out NBC by just a hair. CBS easily grabs the most viewers and households, but NBC is the clear victor of the week. The Peacock network was #1 in the A18-49 ratings and the A25-54 ratings, and was in second place in the remaining categories.
NBC's One-Two-Three combination of NFL Football, THE VOICE and THE BLACKLIST is keeping the network well above the others in the important A18-49 ratings. After three weeks, NBC has a 0.6 point lead over the #2 network, CBS, 3.1 to 2.5, respectively. But as was the case last year, how much of a lead will NBC need by January to weather the rest of the season without the NFL and three months of no THE VOICE?
With two series already off the schedule, ABC's LUCKY 7 and CBS' WE ARE MEN, which series have the best chances of being next on the chopping block?
Discounting all CW programs and Saturday offerings, the worst rated program from the big 4 was WELCOME TO THE FAMILY, from NBC. The sitcom ranked 87th, out of 96 shows, and pulled in a meager 2.5 million viewers and a 0.8 demo rating. Now, being an NBC Thursday sitcom, these numbers don't look to odd. Everything else by NBC that night was within 1.0 to 1.4 million viewers.
Next best choice is ABC's BETRAYAL (#79). It pulled in 2.9 million viewers and a 0.8 rating in Adults 18-49. it lost over 50% of the lead in REVENGE provided at 10 p.m. These numbers are almost the same as what LUCKY 7 drew before it was canned. It only saving grace is that ABC does not want two shows axed within the first month of the season.
FOX's new sitcom DADS (#75) is not only poorly rated, it is just out-and-out BAD! I watched an episode recently and it plays like a bad 80's sitcom. For humanity, FOX needs to cancel this ASAP, but it does out perform second year comedy THE MINDY PROJECT (#78).
Now that CBS got rid of the obvious bad comedy seed, it still has the obvious bad drama seed still on the schedule. Despite the quality of the product, HOSTAGES (#60) is doing horrid numbers on Monday nights. It rates lower than the just canceled WE ARE MEN (#56) and is the worst performing CBS program, outside of the Saturday repeats.
The CW premiere week got off to a decent start. Ratings are down year-to-year, but positive signs for Tuesday through Thursday. Only Mondays and Fridays are the weak links... And should be though the season.
Viewership top 30 has 16 CBS programs, 5 NBC shows, 6 from ABC and 3 from FOX.
