TV News Roundup: Week of May 20, 2013

News a week after the 2013-14 network up-fronts slows down, but the industry readies itself for the 2013 summer and begin setting up for the 2013-14 fall season.

MONDAY:
  • New judges announced for THE X-FACTOR:
    Joining Simmon Cowell this fall will be Demi Lovato, Kelly Rowland and Paulina Rubio
  • ABC schedules summer burn-off for cancelled series:
    ZERO HOUR and 666 PARK AVENUE will air remaining episodes on Saturday nights, this summer.
  • New STAR WARS series for 2014:
    A new animated series STAR WARS REBELS will premiere in 2014 on Disney XD
TUESDAY:
  • CBS wins the 2012-13 season:
    CBS is tops in Viewers, A18-49, A25-54, and Households. FOX takes A18-34 season crown.
WEDNESDAY:
  • CBS continues Tony Awards:
    CBS inks a deal to keep the Tony Awards on the network, through 2018.
  • Former NBC series heads to TLC:
    Cable network TLC revives the cancelled NBC series WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? New episodes begin on July 24.
  • Teen Choice Awards announced:
    The first wave of Teen Choice 2013 nominees in movies, music and TV were announced for the August 11 broadcast on FOX (link)
THURSDAY:
  • Three-way tie for May Sweeps:
    CBS, FOX and ABC all tie at a 1.8 rating in Adults 18-49 demographic. CBS easily takes win in total viewers for the month.
